Legerwood Tasmania

Legerwood, a quaint little town in the middle of North East Tasmania that
has an unusual souvenir shop, an EE van (I think that's its code).
A great use of a piece of rollingstock.

In front of  the souvenir shop is a long row of these interesting carvings. We were told that the big trees they are carved from were meant to be removed, as they were becoming dangerous. Instead, the town decided to make use of them and asked a man named Eddie Freeman to carve statues to represent the fallen World War One soldiers from the local area. Using a chainsaw, he carved the Douglas firs, Giant Sequioas, Deodars and Weymouth pines into these amazing figures. Very talented man!

Each carving has been made with a lot of care and have very defined detail. They are definitely worth a look if you're in the area!

VR A2-964 at Reservoir

On my recent trip to Victoria, I found this VR steamie in Edwardes park, Griffiths Rd
Reservoir. Seemed to be quite a popular little park on a Saturday morning. Nice to
see a VR loco with Boxpok wheels preserved.
