I've never really photographed the Newcastle line much over years; I guess I just
took it for granted that it would always be there. The decision to end the line at
Hamilton surprised me but not as much as how quickly it was ripped up and knocked
down because as a Novacastrian I know things happen around here usually rather slowly.
Here are some shots taken around Wickham Station over the last fortnight.

Bloody government vandals. It did not have to be closed

What a waste of resources and money this is. Newcastle's Heritage decimated. A good functioning transport system truncated and replaced with an ad-hoc white elephant light rail system. And at what additional cost and to what end? What a joke.
ReplyDeleteAll to satisfy to latte set who want unfetted access to the waterfront cafe strip. They will find that when the trams finally come, not in my lifetime though, that the whole area will be taken up by high rise and the multi nationals will have more money in their pockets, and as per usual not care one iota about the ordinary people.
